Square soda bottles are awesome Wednesday, Mar 31 2010

I was just over at Designerscouch.org and saw something that blew my mind.

I’m usually not much of a fan of concept art – but this isn’t concept art for the sake of being pretty, or an illustration of some wacky technology that has yet to be invented, but rather an idea for Coca-Cola and other soft-drink companies to save money and the environment at the same time.

The bottles take up a lot less space, four each four bottles there is now room for two more. Which, if you look at the shipping containers, means there’s room for 3949 more bottles per container!

Now so far, most of us could’ve thought of it. Square packages are the most space-efficient packages there are. But the real benefit of these packages is that once they’re empty, they can be collapsed really easily, like this:

And there was Crake Monday, Mar 29 2010

A very good day to whoever may be reading.

Allow me to introduce myself; I am Crake. Crake isn’t my real name, though. I’ve decided to utilize the anonymity of the Internet to the fullest extent and leave most of my details up for speculation, that is if anyone is interested enough to speculate. If such a person exists, let me just say you shouldn’t. I’m not a particularly fascinating or strange individual, in fact, I take pride in being quite the average person.

I’m sorry if my introduction was a little disappointing.

With that out of the way, a question remains: What do I write about now that I have a blog once more? I’m afraid I don’t really have a straightforward answer although I have a general idea. We’ll see what the future holds in store for this blog.
